Accutane (isotretinoin) is a prescription medication for patients suffering from nodular acne. Accutane works by decreasing the amount of oil secreted by your skin. It’s common for the acne to get worse during the first several weeks of the treatment. This means Accutane is working properly. Even one dose can cause harm to an unborn baby affecting their eyes, ears, face, skull, brain and heart. You must never use this medicine if you are pregnant or may become pregnant during the period of treatment.
